His name is Jing. He was my companion during the tough Covid-19 curfew period. This story is about him but also about the overwhelming impact of a world pandemic onto a child’s life. I started to observe him daily. I assumed he was too young to realize what freedom is. During the two months of confinement, he never asked to go out. I could feel his effort to extract joy out of those toys he already had played with hundreds of times. He tried to make every day easier, but his emotions betrayed him.
