With the exception of the Republican China period, when, thanks to foreign influences, both men and women had the right to find free love, Chinese marriage history’s traditions include “prenatal betrothal” and “arranged marriage”. Nevertheless, Chinese marital view today has experienced a backsliding. It is dominated again by parents’ orders and matchmakers’ help, a function that appeared in Western Zhou period . After bearing witness to many friends who were forced to go into the unfortunate marriage grave with elders led the author to undertake this project as a means of questioning the meaning of marriage.
